So I got $50
Earned a $50 Amazon gift card from an interview by a researcher yesterday. Promptly used it all to pay for (half) of D.A. Forsyth’s 2011 Computer Vision: A Modern Approach textbook.
Work is going well but it’s a lot of debugging right now and my head hurts because of that. I’m getting pretty good at navigating scrapy which will be useful for future projects where I need to collect a metric shit ton of information.
Tonight KP and I are hitting up a salsa club (club as in beats, alcohol, 21+, not like a hobbyist group). I don’t remember much from freshman year salsa club (hobbyist group). But it should be fun, assuming any females show up because Man Francisco / SunnyMale / Man-tan View are kinda known for a bad ratio. Onur’s playing soccer today with other LinkedIn guys so this is as good a day as any for us to get our dance on.
I also happen to be perusing a Natural Language Processing book written in 1987. It makes me wonder if it’s at all relevant but I’ve already learned about stuff like ELIZA the rogerian therapist and stuff, and considering I’d only seen that stuff starting last year, I’m guessing the field hasn’t evolved so dramatically from a theoretical point of view. So it’s still tangible for me. I’m considering some linguistics classes for next year if possible.
